I have no idea why I am writing this. But it is said that if I write enough I will get an idea on what to write about story-wise. I am thinking Fantasy…that is the one genre that I am drawn to. I have one idea or scenario rather, on what to write on the idea is as follows.
“A bloodied trader arrives at a tavern in the town of Tramonia. This trader tells locals that he was attacked (by what?). This breaks the treaty, (What treaty? With whom was it made? Why was it made?) Tiras (the main character) and his two friends Marc and Randy overhear what the trader says…”
I think that this idea has a lot of potential. The hard part about it is the pre-writing phase where I SHOULD write down character profiles and what not. I am currently working on a World Map. It isn’t too detailed yet. I don’t know what else to add to what I already have. I also am working on a town map. It is coming out ok…better than my world map. I also have Tiras’ character profile written. If I could just get a few pages of plot written or a few pages of the story started. I need that jump start. I am getting my “inspiration” from several sources, two of which is the Bible, and Robert Jordan’s The “Wheel of Time”. If I could just get the idea above started, I could really get things going, I think. My two supports are Mat Edmonds and Kim Bills. They are writers like me. Both are Fantasy people like me. Maybe we should start something like the Inklings. We’ll see.
Another disadvantage I have is my not being good at grammar. My mechanics are horrible. However my content is good, at least that is what I am told. I am also new to the whole thing. I have never written something like this. It is a big adventure to be sure. Maybe I can find a support group online. This is the biggest project I have ever undertaken, it is a dream of mine to do this, I have attempted several time to do this, twice I think. Actually thrice…So, I am hoping on this one. I am really trying. Maybe I should post this online to encourage others? But at the same time others might not see it as an encouragement; I know that some would LOVE another thing to bash me on. I might try to get other sources for my project. I don’t know where this will go, or how this will turn out…a poem that comforts me and helps me and gives me a sort of odd…peace is this.
“The Road goes ever on and on.
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.” Until next time. Brad
